Women's crew opens with win at Mon Regatta

The Virginia women's rowing squad finished at the top of the Mon Regatta Saturday, starting the 2003 season on a positive note. The Cavaliers took wins in both the varsity eight and varsity four competitions while finishing second in the varsity four and novice eight in Morgantown, West Va.

Finishing with a time of 19:38.46, Virginia's "A" boat took first place in the varsity eight competition. They werefollowed closely by Clemson's "A" boat, finishing with a time of 20:07.71.

The Cavaliers will travel to Boston to compete in the Head of the Charles Regatta on Oct. 19.
