Why did you decide to run for office?
I have enjoyed my experience serving on class council for the past three years. Fourth-Year Council provides educational programming, social programming, careers and transitions events, graduation planning and coordinates class giving. As Fourth-Year Class President, I would have an opportunity to combine my previous knowledge of class councils with new ideas geared specifically for transitioning the graduating class into active young alumni.

What makes you a qualified candidate?
Last year I served as class council secretary; this year, I am serving as vice president and treasurer. I have worked with all of the managerial aspects of council, and know how councils should run efficiently. I interned at the Alumni Hall as a head reunions intern and am familiar with the structure and strategy of the Alumni Association.

In your opinion, what are the most pressing issues facing the University and how would you use your office to deal with them?
As the state becomes less inclined to fund the University, which seems to be moving toward a more privatized model, funding and gifts from alumni have become paramount to the University's future. The purpose of the class gift is to instill a pattern of giving to the University which will continue after graduation. I hope to educate the class on the direct link between the University's need and class giving's purpose.

What do you hope to accomplish with your position?
Provide far-reaching and inclusive programming which appeals to the class and build a lasting connection and framework of access for the Class of 2005.
