The Aviator Martin Scorsese's The Aviator, with 11 nominations, is this year's film to beat. Leonardo DiCaprio's performance, nominated in the Best Actor category, along with Oscar-nominated supporting roles from Alan Alda and Cate Blanchett place this Howard Hughes biopic at the top of many Academy member's ballots.

The Aviator is also nominated for awards in Art Direction and Cinematography, a testament to the film's visual beauty. Oscar-nominated editing provides a smooth pace for seamlessly integrated computer-generated imagery and a fantastic musical score in this soaring 170-minute film. The Aviator is a perfect storm of potent acting, a stirring script, solid directing and stellar production. And by the end of Oscar night, The Aviator's cast and crew should be flying high.
