Cavaliers' Ferguson Named Semifinalist for Lombardi Award

Senior tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson was named a semifinalist yesterday for the Lombardi Award, given to the nation's finest lineman.

The All-ACC and All-American lineman from Freeport, N.Y. is a four-year starter for the Cavaliers. Despite missing two games this season, Ferguson was selected as one of the 12 semifinalists for the trophy.

The selection committee is composed of 500 members that include past winners, all Division I head coaches and a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters.

The 2005 Rotary Lombardi Award Dinner, in which the award is presented, will be held Dec.7.
