Mikalauskas to have shoulder surgery today

Junior Lars Mikalauskas will undergo surgery on his left shoulder today and will not return to full-contact basketball for five months, according to an athletic department statement.

After playing the first nine games in the 2007-08 season, Mikalauskas missed the next 13 games because of a shoulder injury. The junior forward returned to action Feb. 12 against North Carolina and played out the rest of the season. Including their three games in the inaugural College Basketball Invitational, the Cavaliers went 6-5 in the final 11 games with Mikalauskas after losing 9 of the last 10 games without him.
