Need a shirt? Grab a spray can.

What: The product consists of short wool, linen or acrylic fibers and polymers that are dissolved in a solvent that one sprays onto the skin from an aerosol can. The spray is initially cold but dries instantly upon contact with the skin to become a normal fabric material that can be removed and is machine-washable.

Who: Spanish designer Manel Torres designed the product with a team of chemical engineers from Imperial College, London. Torres intends to showcase the fabric as part of his spring/summer collection for the Science in Style fashion show in London.

The Future: Although the product will likely become a popular staple of urban fashion, Torres intends to use the technology to create spray-on sterile bandages that will deliver medications to dress wounds or soothe burnt skin.
