Student Council addressed student safety concerns at its weekly meeting Tuesday night. Council proposed an effort to advertise Central Grounds Parking Garage's policy of reduced parking fees during the evening hours.
In a survey Student Council distributed to students, many students reported not being in favor of parking by the libraries at night.
"A lot of students were concerned with getting home at night when they couldn't necessarily take SafeRide," said Anup Myneni, Buildings and Grounds Committee co-chair.
Myneni said many students are unaware of the garage's reduced rates.
Although parking in the garage costs $2 per hour during the day, the price drops to 70 cents between the hours of 5 and 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and then turns into a $1 flat rate between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. Monday through Sunday.
