Much praise has been heaped on Modern Family from critics and viewers alike, and for good reason: Family is without a doubt one of the funniest shows on television. Now in its second season, the show does not rely on a flashy story and over-the-top acting, but rather on a talented cast of likeable, relatable characters and clever writing. Having seen every episode myself, I confidently can say there is no shortage of memorable lines. If you have not seen the show, here are eight quotes from season two that best capture the essence of Modern Family:

1. "Look at them. A minute ago they were babies, and now they're driving, and soon we'll all be dead." - Claire (Episode 1, "The Old Wagon")

Claire (Julie Bowen) has just helped her eldest daughter get her driver's license and is clearly not optimistic about it. She is the matriarch of the Dunphy family, which consists of her husband Phil (Ty Burrell) and kids Haley, Alex and Luke - although at times Phil can be also counted among the children. Claire spends most of her time trying to keep the family from imploding.

2. "I remember once at a New Year's Eve party, stroke of midnight, he high-fived me. Two problems with that: One, gays don't high five. Two, gays don't high five."

Lauren Seeliger and Brandon Kile, two third-year Cavalier Daily News writers, discuss the impact of the student housing frenzy on both University students and the Charlottesville community.
