U.Va. student is rising star in local music scene

Third year John Thackston chats about his musical ambitions

To friends and family, he is known as John Anderson. But on stage and in the studio, he goes by John Thackston: the multi-talented 20-year-old third year from right here in Charlottesville.

As musical director for the Virginia Gentlemen, Thackston has a clear flair for music and sound - a trait hard to miss in his recently released, self-titled EP. Like his music, Thackston is incredibly down-to-earth, and really just wants people to relate to what he is trying to say.
