Jason Vigilante, Virginia's cross country and track and field coach, resigned last week in the midst of his third season at the helm.
Athletic Director Craig Littlepage thanked Vigilante for his contributions to the program in a statement last week, and expressed his dedication to finding a suitable replacement.
The Cavaliers will begin their indoor track and field season Dec. 3 at the Liberty Kick-Off in Lynchburg.
Prior to his departure, Vigilante most recently led the women's cross country squad to its third NCAA Southeast Regional championship in four years and a fourth consecutive at-large bid to the NCAA Championships held earlier this month.
He also guided both the men's cross country team and the men's outdoor track and field team to conference titles. In doing so, he nabbed nominations as the ACC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year, the ACC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year, the NCAA Southeast Regional Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year and the NCAA Southeast Region Men's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.
