The Inter-Fraternity Council yesterday evening elected six additional chairmen in a council-wide election to add to its 12-member executive body for the 2012 term.
Outgoing vice president for administration Joey Connor said the six chairmen positions chosen yesterday are the best way for fraternity members to get involved in entry-level leadership positions.
Tommy Hanson was elected chairman for membership education and scholarship, Stephen West as chairman for community service, and Tim Bernica as chairman for alumni and faculty relations. Additionally, the IFC elected Michael Robertson as chairman for sustainability, Jake Pittman as chairman for diversity outreach and inter-Greek relations, and Alex Van Trigt as chairman for public relations.
The IFC chose six executive members last Thursday.
Members elected third-year Commerce student Andy Colberg as president last Thursday. Colberg said his goals for the new term are to "increase numbers, branch out and work to make sure the good image of what we do gets out." He would also like to ensure a smooth transition into this term with the Dean of Fraternity and Sorority life.
"We've got a pretty good year in front of us," Colberg said. "We really increased numbers; [there are] more guys coming through the bid process."
The IFC also elected third-year College student Hart Willoughby as vice president for administration.
Willoughby, who served last term as chairman for diversity outreach and inter-Greek relations, said he hopes to build on the successes of the last vice president for administration with a particular emphasis on streamlining the organization's budget.
IFC members also chose third-year College student Gillum Ferguson as vice president for membership and third-year Commerce student Ross Robinson as vice president for risk management. Third-year College student Andrew Johnson was elected vice president for judiciary, and third-year College student Bo Swindell member-at-large.
Outgoing president and fourth-year College student Dane Ferre said the previous IFC successfully "increased numbers" and had some "really constructive conversations" with President Teresa Sullivan and other University administrators.
