Junior first baseman Danni Ingraham leads the Cavaliers with eight home runs this season.

What: Virginia vs. Notre Dame

When: Saturday-Sunday

Where: Melissa Cooke Stadium; South Bend, Ind.

The Skinny: After a triumphant five home run victory against Georgetown at home, the Cavaliers (17-29, 5-13 ACC) take on Notre Dame (27-15, 11-7 ACC) in South Bend for an ACC weekend series.

Virginia looks to continue its three game winning streak after picking up two weekend victories against Georgia Tech (14-30, 6-12 ACC) and a midweek defeat of Georgetown (11-28, 4-8 Big East), 7-6.

Over the weekend, Virginia battled against Georgia Tech and picked up their first ACC series of the season by winning two of three. The victories both came in style, as the team had to come back from 2-0 deficits in each contest.

Tuesday night, the Cavaliers faced a struggling Hoya team and junior first baseman Danni Ingraham celebrated her birthday with a two-run homer, contributing to the Cavaliers’ tie of a season-high of five home runs in a single game. She has been clutch of late, including a homer in the weekend series against the Yellow Jackets.

The Irish come off a mid-week game against Western Michigan. They won the battle 6-5 as sophomore third baseman Melissa Rochford batted in four runs. Notre Dame has been consistent in ACC play of recent, amassing a 10-2 record.

The bout starts with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.

What: Clemson Invitational

Where: Lake Hartwell; Clemson, S.C.

When: Saturday-Sunday

The Skinny: This weekend, the No. 10 Virginia women’s rowing team heads to South Carolina to compete in the Clemson Invitational.

The Invitational will prove a pivotal moment in the Cavaliers’ spring season. After a disappointing showing at the Pac-12 Invitational last month, Virginia has another chance to prove itself against a challenging lineup of 21 total teams. This deep field is packed with schools in the top 20, including No 4. Ohio State and No. 5 Texas.

Last year at the Invitational, Ohio State played spoiler against the Cavaliers, preventing Virginia’s Varsity Eight from going undefeated and also beating out the Cavaliers’ Second Varsity Eight. Overall, Virginia came away with 12 of 15 possible victories.

The 2017 Invitational also marks an opportunity for the Cavaliers to send a message to fellow ACC rivals Duke, Clemson and Louisville. With the ACC Championships just a few weeks away, Virginia can make a statement on their hopes for an eighth-straight ACC rowing title. The Cavaliers’ last event before the ACC championships will be a head-to-head competition against Texas in Virginia’s final home regatta of the spring.

Men’s Tennis

What: No. 3 Virginia (23-1, 9-1 ACC) vs. Miami (8-11, 2-8 ACC); Virginia vs. Florida State (15-9, 5-5 ACC)

Where: Miami, Fla. and Tallahassee, Fla.

When: Friday, 3 p.m.; Sunday, 1 p.m.

The Skinny: No. 3 Virginia (23-1, 9-1 ACC) travels to Miami (8-11, 2-8 ACC) Friday to take on the Hurricanes, then closes out the regular season Sunday with a match against Florida State (15-5, 5-9 ACC).

Hot off a 7-0 sweep over Richmond in Virginia’s last home match, the team looks to finish the season strong against two final conference opponents. Virginia is riding a six-match winning streak and will look to keep momentum going into the ACC Tournament. Miami is on a two-game skid, but will look to upset Virginia Friday before playing Virginia Tech a few days later to close out the season. Meanwhile, Florida State is coming off a convincing win over NC State. Led by sophomore Aziz Dougaz, the Seminoles will try to avenge last year’s 7-0 Cavalier sweep Sunday.
