Shots fired reported on 800 block of Hardy Drive

The Charlottesville Police Department responded to a shots fired call at approximately 8:07 p.m. on the 800 block of Hardy Drive, according to a safety advisory sent by Timothy Longo, chief of the University Police Department and associate vice president for security and safety.

Longo said that callers reported hearing multiple shots, and that upon arriving at the scene, police found shell casings on the ground. No injuries have been reported at this time, and no suspect has been identified according to Longo.

A heavy police presence remains in the area, and Longo said to avoid it for the time being. He  also encouraged anybody with information relevant to the incident to contact the CPD at (434) 970-3280.

This is the first safety advisory of November. 

Safety advisories are shared via email to the University community when there is timely information about a threat that can be released to the community without compromising any ongoing investigations.
