SUMMER SCENES: Charlottesville in Summertime

During the summertime, Charlottesville becomes a different place. Free from the semester’s activities, stores shut down, construction projects wind up and the few students who remain enjoy Grounds in a state of eerie peace. While studying for my PhD qualifying examinations over the summer, I was captivated by this transformation and wanted to explore a side of the city that many students never experience.
