University professor, students record World War II oral histories

Dr. Gregory Saathoff, associate research professor in the Departments of Public Health Sciences and Emergency Medicine at the Medical School, recently partnered with a group of students at the University on a project called “A Nickel for Your Story,” in which oral histories of World War II were collected from local veterans

Azerbaijani Ambassador speaks at University

The University hosted Elin Suleymanov, the Azerbaijani ambassador to the United States, Thursday. The ambassador presented to Politics Prof. Allen Lynch’s Russian Politics course, an event organized by the University Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies.

Huguely to file for U.S. Supreme Court trial

Former University student and lacrosse player George Huguely, who was convicted of second-degree murder in the 2010 killing of his girlfriend Yeardley Love — also a University student — is trying to take his case to the United States Supreme Court after a series of failed appeals in Virginia.

But much of their work goes into planning summer orientation sessions. Funlola Fagbohun, associate director of the first year experience, describes her experience working with OTP and how she strives to create a welcoming environment for first-years during orientation and beyond. Along with her role as associate director, summer Orientation leaders and OTP staff work continually to provide a safe and memorable experience for incoming students.
