Sweet Briar reopens doors with renewed momentum

Last March, when Sweet Briar College officials announced they would close the 114-year-old institution, a firestorm of angry protests erupted among Sweet Briar students, alumnae and professors. They rallied to form Saving Sweet Briar Inc., arguing that the decision to close the school was without merit.


The new StubHub partnership will have no impact on student ticketing. However, students will be able to resell tickets above face value.

Virginia athletics announced that StubHub has replaced the Virginia Ticket Marketplace as the fan-to-fan secondary ticket marketplace for all University football and men’s basketball games.

Martese Johnson to speak at TEDx Charlottesville in November

Fourth-year College student Martese Johnson is set to give a TEDx talk in Charlottesville in November. He said his talk will address his bloody arrest last March at the hands of Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control officers, and more broadly the condition of black Americans throughout the country.

Possible large-scale wind power plant in Virginia stirs controversy

Charlottesville-based company Apex Clean Energy constructed two test towers in Botetourt County to explore the possibly of a large-scale wind power plant in the area. The test towers will gather information about wind in the area, and be used to determine whether Apex will install 25 wind turbines on private property that has been procured for the plant.
