Clear eyes, full hearts

Like many college students, I often lack time to keep up with TV shows as they air. As a result I have an ever-growing list of shows — “Breaking Bad”, “Mad Men” and “Game of Thrones,” to name a few — building up in my Netflix queue. When I find myself with some TV time, I almost invariably do what my friends jokingly call “The Sean Special”: revisit a show I’ve already seen and blitz through the entire series in about a week. My latest television binge has been to rewatch “Friday Night Lights,” perhaps my second-favorite show of all time.

Cavs claim first conference win against Wake Forest

The Virginia men’s soccer team rallied back from a seemingly insurmountable second-half deficit to earn a dramatic 3-2 overtime victory against Virginia Tech Friday. The Cavaliers (8-6-1, 2-4 ACC) found themselves in a two-goal hole when freshman forward Kai Marshall tapped in his first collegiate score in the 56th minute to give Virginia Tech a 2-0 lead.

The defending national champion Virginia women’s rowing team enjoyed a stellar showing at the 48th annual Head of the Charles in Boston, the world’s largest regatta. The Cavaliers sent three boats to the two-day, 9,000-competitor event, including two in the Championship Eights race and one in the Championship Fours.

The main draw of the four-day tournament begins Friday, and winners from both the doubles and singles flights will receive automatic bids to November’s ITA National Individual Indoors tournament in Flushing Meadows, NY. Last year, Frank won the National Indoors but will miss this year’s tournament after undergoing season-ending knee surgery in August.
