Powerful lineup looks to take Wake Forest deep

The Virginia baseball team's ACC-topping offense may be firing on all cylinders, but the Cavaliers need to answer the slew of questions surrounding the starting rotation before they can sweep the three-game series at home against Wake Forest which kicks off Saturday. Coach Brian O'Connor's emerging offense has proven to be one of the deepest lineups in his nine-year tenure at Virginia.

Cavs roll into WNIT quarterfinals

Senior guard Ariana Moorer was dishing, sophomore guard Ataira Franklin was knocking down shots, junior guard Lexie Gerson was stealing and the Virginia women's basketball team marched on to the quarterfinal of the WNIT with a 74-58 victory against Appalachian State. Moorer notched a career-high 11 assists along with 16 points, six rebounds and four steals, and the Cavaliers scored 35 points off of 28 Mountaineer turnovers en route to their 25th win of the season, the most since the 1999-2000 season. "I don't think any of us are ready to stop playing," Franklin said.

The Virginia baseball team looks to build on a 12-3 Wednesday night drubbing of VMI when it hosts Clemson this weekend for a three-game series. Virginia (12-8-1, 2-4 ACC) had lost three in a row before downing the Keydets with an impressive offensive showing which featured a total of 16 hits, including four from junior shortstop Chris Taylor and three from freshman outfielder Mike Papi.

Seminoles spoil Senior Night

It should have been a Senior Night to remember. Senior forward Mike Scott posted 28 points, 10 rebounds and gave his team a 58-47 lead with 4 minutes 58 seconds remaining, but the Virginia men's basketball team couldn't reward the senior's effort with a win during his last home game.

Funlola Fagbohun, associate director of the first year experience, describes her experience working with OTP and how she strives to create a welcoming environment for first-years during orientation and beyond.
