Women's lacrosse destroys Temple

Virginia gained an easy victory in a 16-6 rout of Temple in Philadelphia Saturday. The Cavaliers dominated throughout, as they held the Owls scoreless for 48 minutes in the middle portion of the game, jumping out to a 16-2 lead.

Emmitt Smith is a Cardinal

Former Dallas Cowboy Emmitt Smith has agreed in principal to sign with the Arizona Cardinals. His new contract is rumored to be for two years and worth $7-8 million.

Football to start practice Friday

The Virginia football team will open its spring minicamp on Friday, officially launching preparation for the 2003 season. Practices will run from March 18 until April 19 when camp will conclude with the annual spring festival and game. A handful of practices this spring will be open to the public free of charge, including Friday's opening practice, scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.

Virginia takes two from UNC Greensboro

It was a beautiful day for softball at the Park yesterday as the Virginia team swept UNC-Greensboro in a non-conference doubleheader. Virginia (21-16) took the first game in strong fashion as freshman pitcher Erin Horn threw a two-hit shutout to improve her record to 9-7 on the season. UNC-Greensboro (21-6) could not find a way to combat Horn's dominating pitching and Virginia took advantage.
