Cavaliers finish fifth

The men's golf team recently finished in fifth place at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate Invitational with several strong showings by young Virginia athletes. The invitational was held in Kiawah Island, S.C.

The Cavaliers finished 16 over par, with a total of 592. Sophomore, Eamonn McLoughlin finished tied for 14th place overall at two over par for the tournament. Also in the top 20 overall, was freshman Dan McGurk who finished in a tie for 17th place with a total of 147 (+3).

Kentucky claimed first place at the invitational. The Wildcats came back from a slow first day to oust first round leader Mississippi and win the entire tournament. Kentucky finished with a total of 580 (+4). The next outing for the Cavaliers will be September 22-23 in Nashville Tennessee at the Mason Rudolph Collegiate.
