Virginia field hockey captain Katie Jo Gerfen has been named to the STX-NFHCA All-South Region First Team. She previously had been named to the Second Team in 2001.
Gerfen, who has also been named to the All-ACC team, was Virginia's second leading scorer, with seven goals and nine assists, while starting in all 20 games. The redshirt junior back from Lititz, Pa. was a clutch performer for the Cavaliers, leading the team with four game-winning goals and recording two game-winning assists. The field-hockey team went 10-10 for the season.
