As a part of a University Art Museum Japanese art exhibition, Sandra Kita, Japanese art historian will present a speech entitled "Edo Then, America Now: Understanding Japanese Prints and their Appeal" this Sunday in the Main Gallery of the University Art Museum.
Kita's talk is part of the Museum's exhibition of Japanese art entitled "The Moon Has No Home: Japanese Woodblock Prints from the Collection of the University of Virginia Art Museum."
Kita is an assistant professor of Japanese Art History at the University of Maryland -- College Park. She served as co-curator of the exhibit along with Stephen Margulies, the museum's curator of works on paper.
The museum is home to a collection of Japanese color woodblock prints from the 19th century.
