Men's basketball receives commitment

Brian Moten, a 6-foot-5-inch, 175-pound shooting guard, gave an oral commitment Sunday to play for Virginia in the 2005-06 season. Moten is playing basketball this season at the Cincinnati Christian Center Academy.

Last season, Moten averaged slightly less than 28 points per game playing for Arthur Hills High School in Saginaw, Mich. Moten, who was fifth for Michigan's Mr. Basketball award, is the fourth Virginia commitment and the third this month.

Sam Warren, a 6-foot-10-inch, 220-pound center from Denver, and Mamadi Diane, a shooting guard from DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland, both committed to play for Virginia in the past two weeks. They joined Laurynas Mikalauskas, a 6-foot-8-inch, 240-pound forward from the Blue Ridge School, who gave his oral commitment in April.
