Rowing shines at Princeton, novices beat Georgetown

Virginia boats capped a successful weekend on the water by finishing third in both the women's open eight and the women's open four races this past Sunday at the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie in New Jersey.

The open eight race consisted of 45 boats and was won by Princeton's "A" boat with a time of 16:01.31. Virginia's "A" boat took third, the "B" boat finished 10th, the "C" boat 22nd and the "D" boat 35th.

In the 51 boat open four race, four Virginia teams placed in the top 15. Virginia's "B" boat took third, followed closely by the "C" boat in fourth, the "A" boat in sixth and the "D" boat in 15th. The race was won by Princeton's "A" boat with a time of 17:09.36.

Virginia's novice women's rowing team began the weekend by taking first, third and seventh in a novice eight competition against the Georgetown University novice team on Saturday at the Rivanna Reservoir.
