Starting with the same Rolling Stones' song that opened GoodFellas, Martin Scorsese's The Departed quickly proves to be far from his recent films, The Aviator and Gangs of New York. Instead, his star-filled cops-and-crooks drama returns to the more entertaining casual criminality of his earlier work.
Scorsese does keep one thing constant with Leonardo DiCaprio's third-consecutive appearance in his movies. The Titanic dreamboat (let's all ignore that pun) shares the screen with Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg and Jack Nicholson.
While Scorsese's not new to the seedy world of organized crime or major celebrities, The Departed does offer something new for the perennially Oscar-nominated but never winning director -
