Spidey to Hobbits

'Spiderman' films' helmer Sam Raimi has recently expressedinterest in jumping cash-cows. The banning of Oscar winner Peter Jackson from directing the adaptation of Tolkien's 'The Hobbit' (the result of some nasty legal disputes with New Line Cinema) has left a hole at the top spot of the planned project. According to Raimi, as long as Jackson is fine with it, he'd be happy to fill the vacancy. This may, however, keep him from signing on with the already green-lit 'Spiderman 4.'

Band to Know: DeVotchka

You might recognize the wistful sounds of indie quartet DeVotchka if you've seen Little Miss Sunshine. The band scored the film upon request of directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. Combining Romani, Greek, Slavic and Mariachi with American folk, DeVotchka creates a style entirely their own. The theremin, accordion, sousaphone and upright bass further the gypsy vibe of the group. You can't go wrong with any track from DeVotchka's releases, but make sure to check out: "How it Ends," "You Love Me" and "Til the End of Time"
