ACC foes topple Cavaliers

Tobacco Road teams take down resilient Virginia squad in close contests

The Virginia volleyball team had a tough weekend in Memorial Gymnasium, losing 3-0 Friday against Duke before falling 3-1 Sunday against Wake Forest.

The losses ended a three-game winning streak for the Cavaliers (9-10, 3-6 ACC).

The Blue Devils (16-3, 8-1 ACC) were knotted with Virginia at 9-9 in the first set Friday but pulled away to earn an 18-10 lead. A slew of kills by the Blue Devils helped close the set 25-12 in their favor.
