Leadership comes second

I appreciate The Cavalier Daily's coverage of the Batten School's remarkable growth. I did want to point out that the Nov. 17 article, "Batten seeks to add program," gives the incorrect name of our proposed multidisciplinary undergraduate program. The correct name is: Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Leadership. If ultimately approved by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, the program would give undergraduates an opportunity to spend their final two years at the University studying major public policy issues such as international development, poverty and climate change. The program is similar to popular undergraduate majors in public policy at Duke University, the University of Michigan and Princeton University, but it adds a unique emphasis on civic leadership. Students who wish to learn more about this exciting proposal should attend an information session in Nau 101 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30. Refreshments will be served!
