Virginia men’s basketball Coach Tony Bennett’s 2020 recruiting class is officially complete. Jabri Abdur-Rahim, a small forward who plays at Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J., committed to Virginia Wednesday night.
Abdur-Rahim had many other notable offers, including Michigan, Arizona, Auburn, Florida, Kansas, Michigan State and Texas A&M.
Ranked No. 28 in the ESPN top 100 for the class of 2020, Abdur-Rahim is Bennett’s highest-rated recruit since Kyle Guy, who was ranked No. 27 in the ESPN top 100 for the class of 2016.
He impressed at the NBA Top 100 camp — hosted at John Paul Jones Arena in June — leading the event in scoring with 17.3 points per game.
Abdur-Rahim’s performance in Charlottesville landed him an invitation to the USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team July Minicamp from July 24 to July 28 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
He comes from a basketball family. His dad Shareef played in the NBA for 12 years and averaged 18.1 points per game.
Abdur-Rahim joins point guard Reece Beekman — ranked No. 40 in the ESPN top 100 — who committed to Virginia after the NBA Top 100 camp, and shooting guard Carson McCorkle, who committed to Virginia last year and reclassified to the class of 2020 this year.
There are currently no more scholarships remaining in the class of 2020.
