The University Police Department has asked the community to provide any information they might have on a burglary that took place sometime late Tuesday morning or early Tuesday afternoon.

According to a community alert sent by Timothy Longo, chief of the University Police Department and vice president for security and safety, the burglary took place sometime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday, in the 2400 block of Arlington Boulevard near the Copeley Hill Apartments — approximately a 25-minute walk from central Grounds.

Longo said the suspect forced entry into an unoccupied residence and took several items of value. No suspect description is available, according to the email.

Longo said that anybody who might have information pertinent to the case should contact the Charlottesville Police at (434) 970-3280.

Community alerts are shared via email to the University community when there is timely information about a threat that can be released to the community without compromising any ongoing investigations.
