The Charlottesville Police Department has asked the community to provide any information they might have on a burglary that occurred sometime between 11 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.

According to a community alert sent by Timothy Longo, chief of the University Police Department and vice president for security and safety, the burglary was reported at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and occurred at the 800 block of West Main Street — approximately a 15 minute walk from central Grounds.

Longo said the unidentified individual gained entry to the living room area of a residence and stole several items of value. No suspect description is available, according to Longo’s email.

Community alerts are shared via email to the University community when there is timely information about a threat that can be released to the community without compromising any ongoing investigations.

Longo asked that anybody who might have information pertinent to the case contact the Charlottesville Police at (434) 970-3280.
