Bringing sexy back, Justin-time

After a long summer of "SexyBack" references -- how many times does someone need to announce that they're "bringing sexy back?" -- Justin Timberlake released FutureSex/LoveSounds, his sophomore album after a four-year hiatus. Everyone has heard the album's first single "SexyBack" -- mainly just because they wanted to understand the hourly references to it.

The Flaming Lips Heat Up Charlottesville

On Tuesday, Sept. 12, Charlottesville experienced an indie-rock invasion of novel proportions. Indie-rock sensation The Flaming Lips played for the first time in Charlottesville at the Pavilion to a very large, very excited crowd. The Flaming Lips were preceded by experimental rock band Deerhoof.

'Hollywoodland' shoots and lands among the stars

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's ... Ben Affleck! Sorry about that, but it's best to go ahead and get that cliché over with right away, don't you think? More than 25 years before Christopher Reeve donned the red cape, an actor named George Reeve brought joy to countless numbers of children every weekend in the "Adventures of Superman." Despite his success in the series, Reeves committed suicide in June of 1959. OR DID HE? This question is the backbone of the film Hollywoodland, which the Virginia Film Society screened last week to kick off its fall season.

The University’s Orientation and Transition programs are vital to supporting first year and transfer students throughout their entire transition to college. But much of their work goes into planning summer orientation sessions. Funlola Fagbohun, associate director of the first year experience, describes her experience working with OTP and how she strives to create a welcoming environment for first-years during orientation and beyond. Along with her role as associate director, summer Orientation leaders and OTP staff work continually to provide a safe and memorable experience for incoming students.
