Memory Mondays serve to maintain a collective institutional memory of the University’s minority organizations’ histories, which are oftentimes forgotten due to the four-year turnover of students.
The theme for Layaleena this year was “A Journey through Time,” which represents a celebration of how Arab culture has changed over the years, as well as the aspects that have remained the same.
The Alumni Weekend kicked off with the launch of the very first “Latinx History at UVA” website, which is aimed toward archiving the history of all Latinx organizations at the University.
Pulsing pop music, brightly-colored costumes and an overwhelming appreciation for the art of dance filled The Paramount Theater Saturday afternoon.
The event showcased a diverse set of dances that were traditional and modern alike, including the heavily-anticipated Fourth Year Tinikling dance.
People from all over the state, and even the globe, attended the event Saturday, Feb. 23, which lasted from 10:30 a.m. until 2 a.m. the following morning.
Noname will be performing at the University in March for UPC's spring concert, a Facebook post announced Tuesday.
