Cavaliers win ACC Swimmer of the Week awards

Virginia swimmers won both the men's and women's ACC Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week awards. Fran Crippen won the men's award, while junior Katie Gordon took home the award for the women. Both swimmers won for their performances at the Boliermaker Challenge.

Gordon posted three NCAA "B" qualifying times at the meet. She posted those marks in the 400-yard individual medley (4:19.75), the 500 freestyle (4:51.08) and the 200 backstroke (2:01.59). She also just missed a qualifying time in the 200 I.M. (2:04.30). Gordon was in the top seven in each event. It is the first ACC honor of her career.

Crippen's seventh ACC honor comes after he won the 500-yard freestyle (4:25.63), the 1,650 freestyle (15:21.28) and the 400 individual medley (3:55.69). He was third in the 200-yard I.M. with a time of 1:51.29. Crippen's times in his freestyle wins met the NCAA "B" qualifying standards. He was also a member of the third-place 800 freestyle relay team that finished with a time of 6:43.09.
