The fairest fall fashions of them all

Look in the mirror.

What do you see?

I'm not asking you to do any self reflection or any of that super-Freudian-psychoanalytical-everything-has-something-to-do-with-your-relationship-with-your-father-or-your-mother-or-the-pet-goat-you-had-when-you-were-eight thing.

I just want you to take a look at what you're wearing. Chances are, you're wearing some kind of sandal/shorts/skirt/tank-top/T-shirt combo.

It's getting kind of old, right?

I mean, you've been on the same 20-article rotation for about four months now, correct?

If you're not one of those people who enjoy sweating up a storm while slowly suffocating in this excruciatingly hot and muggy weather, you may be fantasizing.

Fantasizing about flushed cheeks and windswept hair.

Fantasizing about football games, tailgates and strolling down the Lawn with friends while taking in the breathtaking beauty of fall-colored trees flanking the Rotunda.

And let's not forget: fantasizing about warm, cuddly sweaters, slouchy boots, crisp jackets and sweatshirts broken in by years of wear.

Clothes are as much a reminder of certain seasons as places and events are.

Hence, as we enter a new season brimming with possibilities, what we wear this fall becomes imperative (well, not really, but you know what I mean), and being fashionable takes on new importance.

To figure out how, we turn to the experts on fashion, the veritable shahs of chic.

Namely, Harper's Bazaar.
