The dawn of a new year tends to spawn a whole host of lists and previews of the most anticipated this or that. Such lists for books, however, are harder to find. Here are the books that I've preordered from Amazon, books that I guarantee are destined for The New York Times Best Seller List.
The Canongate Myth Series, created by Scottish publishing firm Canongate Books, rewrites old myths in novella form, infusing the ancient tales with a modern twist. Authors ranging from Margaret Atwood to Victor Pelevin have written for Canongate, and the latest novella in the series, The Good Man Jesus and Christ the Scoundrel, is authored by Phillip Pullman on the "myth of Christianity." Pullman, most famous for his children's novels such as The Golden Compass, is no stranger to controversy. Indeed, Good Man has already been met with both anticipation and criticism.
