Touted recruit departs Virginia line-up

Estimated reading time: 0 minutes

Freshman forward Tristan Spurlock will not return to Virginia next season. The decision was made on a mutual basis between coach Tony Bennett and Spurlock.

Spurlock was originally recruited by former coach Dave Leitao. During the changeover from Leitao to Bennett, however, concern rose that the touted recruit might seek a different program. Spurlock managed to see time in 13 games of the 2009-10 season but only for a total of 60 minutes. Even the minutes Spurlock did see were often during insignificant points of the game.

Spurlock hopes to find a better playing situation for himself, presumably where he will have a higher impact on whatever team he joins. He will finish the semester at Virginia.
