Selenski paces 4-0 victory; team remains undefeated

The third-ranked Virginia field hockey team wrapped up its pre-conference schedule with a 4-0 victory at Lafayette. Junior midfielder Paige Selenski scored twice for the Cavaliers, while freshman forward Elly Buckley and junior midfielder Michelle Vittese also tallied goals in the winning effort.

The Leopards (2-4) held the Cavaliers (7-0) to only four shots and zero goals during the first half. Virginia quickly took the lead after halftime, however, scoring two goals during the first 15 minutes of the second half.

Virginia ultimately took nearly twice as many shots as the Leopards - going 9-4 - and gained six penalty corners to Lafayette's four.

The Cavaliers' winning effort marked the team's fourth shutout of the season. Senior Kim Kastuk and junior Adrienne Ostroff continued to split goalkeeping duty during the game, as Virginia coach Michele Madison has yet to finalize team roles.

Virginia opens ACC play Friday at No. 11 Boston College.
