Nolte arrested on charge of public intoxication

Junior forward booked by Charlottesville Polic Department early Sunday morning

Virginia men’s basketball player Evan Nolte was arrested on a charge of public intoxication by the Charlottesville Police Department early Sunday morning.

Coach Tony Bennett is aware of the incident and is dealing with the matter internally, Assistant Athletics Director Erich Bacher said in an email. The junior forward’s hearing will take place September 5 in Charlottesville General District Court at 10:30 a.m., according to court records.

Nolte appeared in 32 games last season, averaging 2.8 points and 0.9 rebounds for a Virginia team that reached the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16. He came off the bench for eight points in the Cavaliers’ harder-than-expected 70-59 win against Coastal Carolina in the Round of 64.
