The Cavalier Daily faces Virginia Tech’s Collegiate Times in annual rivalry challenge

Leading up to the Nov. 27 kick-off, fans can support independent student journalists who cover Cavalier sports teams and our local community

As Virginia football fans eagerly anticipate filling Scott Stadium for this year’s matchup against Virginia Tech, the in-state rivals’ student newspapers are beginning their rivalry collaboration and fundraising competition. Virginia fans can donate to The Cavalier Daily’s donation page or @cavdaily on Venmo with the description “rivalry” to help us beat Tech and support volunteer student journalists.

This year’s much-anticipated Commonwealth Clash between the Cavaliers and Hokies is set to kick off Saturday, Nov. 27 in Charlottesville. From now until the start of the matchup, Virginia fans can show their support for their team by giving to our newsroom, where students are working hard to keep our University community informed.

Both The Cavalier Daily and Collegiate Times are hoping to top last year’s generous donations, setting goals of $3,000 each. Last year, The Cavalier Daily won the friendly competition, earning $2,472 from generous supporters. This financial support funds the operations and opportunities that keep independent student journalism alive at U.Va.

Be sure to check out The Cavalier Daily and Collegiate Times’ joint rivalry issue, which will be available on stands and online beginning Wednesday.
