Netflix to film season four of “Outer Banks” in Charlottesville
After three successful seasons, the Netflix series “Outer Banks” has been renewed for another round of treasure hunting. The beloved Netflix series centers around a group of teens, the Pogues, chasing treasure and having a good old time.
The first three seasons were primarily filmed in Charleston, S.C. However, several factors led the directors to reconsider season four’s filming location.
“We wanted to make the show more relatable this season,” one director said. “We realized that the majority of our audience lives inland. Inlanders can’t relate to the Pogues prancing around the coast in boats. They’ve probably never even seen water.”
Water wasn’t the only problem.
“We also needed somewhere less…fun,” the director said. “Our audience members couldn’t even comprehend the amount of fun these teens were having. It was hurting their brains.”
In an effort to make the show more relatable to inlanders and your average guy, season four will be filmed right here in Charlottesville. The mayor of Charlottesville issued a public statement regarding this decision.
“This is the best thing to happen to our city,” the mayor said. “What an honor. ‘Outer Banks’ has finally made Charlottesville an unforgettable part of our nation’s history.”
When asked why they settled on Charlottesville, the “Outer Banks” director explained that he must have made a typo when he googled Charlotte.
“Charlotte would have been a lot closer,” he said. “What can I say? Clumsy thumbs.”
Although it may have been an accident, this change in scenery has exciting implications for the plot of “Outer Banks.” For example — spoiler alert — instead of hitting the waves on their surfboards, the Pogues will embark on a thrilling apple picking excursion. Rather than cruising on the HMS Pogue with the sun on their faces and their hair blowing in the wind, the Pogues will sit on the Lawn and stare blankly into the distance for several hours because they ran out of things to do.
Student arrested for serving themselves at dining hall pasta station
At 5:16 p.m. on Sunday, a second-year student was arrested for helping themselves to macaroni and cheese at Newcomb’s pasta station.
“It was all worth it,” shouted the student as they were escorted from the premises by authorities.

U.Va. blows 2023 Halloween budget on giant Rotunda pumpkin
As of 6:30 a.m. on Monday, the Rotunda has been replaced with a giant pumpkin.
The Rotunda pumpkin, better known as the “Rotumpkin,” is intended to bring together the Charlottesville community this Halloween.
“You cannot put a price tag on togetherness,” a U.Va. representative said.
However, you can put a price tag on a pumpkin. In fact, U.Va. allocated the entirety of its 2023 Halloween budget towards the 35,000-pound Rotunda pumpkin.
The student body is less than thrilled about how the University spent this year’s Halloween budget. There are widespread concerns that the Rotunda pumpkin is not scary enough, especially after many students reported feeling “too safe” on Grounds.
“Pumpkins are the least scary gourd,” a third-year student minoring in Gourd Theory said.
“I feel too secure when I walk around Grounds, especially when I’m walking alone at night,” a fourth-year student said as she etched some choice words into the pumpkin’s east wall. “The University missed an important chance to fix this. The Rotunda pumpkin doesn’t scare me at all.”
Despite the backlash it has received, the Rotunda pumpkin is popular among at least one crowd. 10,000 squirrels have flocked to the Rotunda pumpkin and are enjoying the biggest feast of their lives. “It’s awful,” reported a Lawn resident. “I open my door to thousands of them rolling around the Lawn chewing on pumpkin pieces. They chew so loudly – I haven’t slept in days.”
