The University asked the commission to exempt donors from disclosing their names if they wanted to remain anonymous for various reasons. Anonymous donors should be allowed to remain so, unless the state can articulate compelling reasons why the names of donors must be public.

Now is the time of year, just before you settle in, when everyone urges you to consider what's next. Most of the commentary around Grounds centers on recruitment or graduate school or landing the right internship. Hardly a career fair or informational session exists dedicated solely to the road less travelled. What about students who want to spend time after college evaluating their options? What about students who want to travel, find a job somewhere different or maybe do something selfless for a year or two before joining their peers in the "real world?" Where are their career fairs?

Nothing puts a damper on game day festivities like heatstroke. One minute you're swaying happily to the Good Ole Song, feeling a bit dizzy from all the revelry, then all of a sudden you're lying supine on a stretcher trying to explain to paramedics what day of the week it is. This Tuesday The Cavalier Daily publishedand subsequently retracted the Quirksmithcomic strip by Grant Woolard entitled "Ethiopian Food Fight" that has since become the subject of some controversy. The comic, which the Managing Board formally retracted the following day, distastefully portrayed several emaciated Ethiopian men fighting each other for food. We apologize to the entire University community for the poor editorial judgment exercised in running a comic that is so clearly inappropriate and hurtful. Understandably, the comic upset and offended members of the community who thought it unfairly depicted victims of horrible tragedy as savage and violent -- reducing starving people to a punch line. In addition to apologizing, we would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our policies regarding censorship, explain our decision to retract the comic and address the community's concerns.

Compared to the success of University Programs Council's "CRAWL at Newcomb Hall," the Activities Fair revealed a few changes that would make Council's most important event even more user-friendly.
