The Board also changed tuition increases for in-state undergraduate students from a 3.7 percent increase to a 3 percent increase following a request from the Virginia Secretary of Education.
In this fiscal year, philanthropic cash flow from donors has reached $300 million and total commitments from future donors reached $463 million.
Currently, the University considers race along with other factors such as academic performance and high school performance to build a diverse student body.
Although he has faith in the short-term benefits of his proposals, Longo stressed the need for a deeper understanding of root causes and wider community change such as public investments and after-school programs.
Most top earners at the University hold administrative and organizational positions, such as Robyn Hadley who earned $360,000.00 as both Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer and Dean of Students.

Beyond student communication, Ryan announced that the University plans to create a Community Safety Working Group composed of University, Charlottesville and Albemarle community members.
Another subject at the meeting was admission statistics, presented by Donna Henry, chancellor of the College at Wise.
Graduate students will face an average tuition increase of between three to five percent depending on the program, with Darden students facing up to 12 percent increases.
Ryan detailed the sheer level of outreach the University has received both within and outside its direct community.
The Committee engaged in discussions on the University's response to last month’s shooting which resulted in the death of three University students and injured two others.
Five audit projects were completed in the second quarter of the 2022 fiscal year, with 13 currently in progress.
Vice President for Advancement Mark Luellen opened the discussion with an overview of the creation of the U.Va. Strong Fund.
Cost estimates are being developed and were not presented during this meeting.
The proposed amendment would instead require the Senate to propose a slate of three candidates to the Board, who will then select one individual from the three to serve as the representative.
Acampora succeeds Provost Ian Baucom, who spent eight years in the role.
In attendance at the event were about eight members from the United Campus Workers of Virginia.
Both compromises could be implemented without any changes to the Faculty Senate bylaws.
Christa Acampora, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, described the necessity of the liberal arts curriculum in confronting issues ranging from the decline of democracy to climate change to public health concerns.
