Women's lacrosse shoots down Patriots

Yesterday, the No. 8 Virginia women's lacrosse team took care of business against No. 17 George Mason, 15-8, in Fairfax. The Cavaliers have now won five of their last six games.

George Mason (7-6) scored in the game's opening minute, but the Cavaliers (9-5) responded with five consecutive goals and led for the remainder of the match. Six Virginia players registered goals. Lauren Aumiller scored four, and Jamie Haas and Caitlin Banks both had three.

George Mason failed to find an answer to the deficit and managed to only come as close as three goals before succumbing.

Virginia now leads the all-time series with the Patriots, 3-0.
