Cavaliers' season ends in Wisconsin

The Virginia women's basketball team's season came to an end yesterday as the Cavaliers fell to Wisconsin in the WNIT quarterfinals.

Despite a 14-point advantage in the second half, the Cavaliers were unable to hold off the Badgers. Wisconsin went on a 14-4 run to cut the Cavaliers' lead to four with slightly more than seven minutes remaining.

Just a couple minutes later, with possession of the ball and a 70-68 lead, junior guard Sharneé Zoll was called for a charge when she collided with a Wisconsin defender. Matters were made worse for Virginia when the Cavaliers were assessed a technical foul after the bench reacted to the call. After making two free throws to tie the game at 70, the Badgers never looked back as they went on to win the game 84-78.

Senior Siedah Williams led the Cavaliers as she notched her seventh double-double of the season, scoring 25 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Also contributing for Virginia was sophomore Lyndra Littles, who finished with 24 points and nine rebounds.

Wisconsin moves on to play Western Kentucky in the final four of the WNIT Wednesday.
