School pride

As an alumna and current graduate student, I was dismayed to read the Sports section on Tuesday and see Dan Stalcup's article ("Hokie for a weekend," Sept. 23). The University should be proud of its traditions and should not seek to imitate any other school or institution. We should continue to watch football in our own fashion and right, and not worry about how other schools might see us. Our traditions are valuable and worthy of practice. This is not about the "Sea of Orange" or "guys in ties and girls in pearls," but rather, being proud of our school regardless. Yes, the football program is in trouble right now, but never question the loyalty of a true Wahoo.
