The No. 30 Virginia women's tennis team was swept this weekend, losing to No. 19 Florida State 5-2 and to No. 10 Miami 7-0.
Against Florida State, the Cavaliers started off by dropping the crucial doubles point 2 to 1, with the only win coming from the No. 50 ranked pair of sophomore Lindsey Hardenbergh and freshman Erin Vierra. Virginia rebounded at the beginning of the singles, taking the first set in five out of six matches. But the Seminoles still managed to bounce back, taking four of the six singles matches to win 5-2.
One bright spot for the Cavaliers in this loss was the performance of freshman Hana Tomljanovic, who took down No. 44 Noemie Scharle of Florida State in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
Nevertheless, the second match of the weekend did not go much better for Virginia. After being swept in the doubles matches, the Cavaliers only won a total of two sets in singles, to lose the match 7
