Dimas

After traveling to Clemson Saturday night, the Cavaliers returned home in dramatic fashion, boasting their first ACC victory of the season.

Until very late in the match, though, that fate was far from certain. Then, in the 88th minute, sophomore midfielder Ari Dimas took advantage of a poor clearance and knocked home a left-footed shot from 18 yards out.

With a final score of 1-0, the Tigers now fall to 1-4-1 (0-2-1 ACC), even though their five shots and eight corner kicks surpassed the Cavaliers' (5-1-1; 1-1-1 ACC) respective statistics of four and one. Virginia senior goalkeeper Diego Restrepo managed two saves, though, en route to his fourth shutout of the season.

Virginia now starts a six-game homestand, beginning with Longwood tomorrow night.
