StudCo University Unity Project elects Hale, Trent as new leaders

Student Council representatives last Sunday elected second-year College student Sheffield Hale and fourth-year College student Garrett Trent to lead this year's University Unity Project, which will focus on environmental sustainability. "We hope to give student groups that are concerned about environmental issues a little extra backing," said Nikhil Panda, Council vice president of administration.

StudCo, landlords give LNEC donation

Student Council passed a bill last night that will ensure monetary support for the University's Learning Needs and Evaluation Center, with the hope that it may help disabled students find housing options off Grounds. Under the bill's provisions, Council and local landlords will donate a total of $2,000 to the LNEC to address disabled students' needs. "Based on observations of off-grounds housing options, oftentimes resources that a student with disabilities need may not be available," Council President John Nelson said. Nikhil Panda, Council vice president for administration, said Council will donate $500 to the program.

The German Embassy in Washington, D.C. recently selected the University as one of 25 colleges and universities to commemorate the historic fall of the Berlin Wall nearly 20 years ago.

Fourth Year Trustees begin class fundraising campaign

The Class Giving Committee of Fourth Year Trustees launched its Class of 2010 Giving Campaign yesterday. The campaign will run until Final Exercises in May, by which time the organizers hope to have achieved a 70 percent giving rate, Campaign Co-Chair Matt Schrimper said. "We always aspire to have as high participation as possible," he said.
