What happened to the Virginia men’s swimming team?

While former coach Mark Bernardino’s management of the swim program during his tenure would seem to have set the team up for a bright future, any continued success the men’s program was poised for was quickly dismantled by Augie Busch’s leadership.

What recruiting?

National signing day came and went last Wednesday without much hype at all for the Virginia football team. According to top recruiting experts, the Cavaliers signed somewhere between the 44th and 55th best class in the nation, which doesn’t seem too bad considering Virginia has finished last place in the ACC Coastal for three straight seasons. For me, however, the news is the most damning piece of evidence yet against the case for Virginia coach Mike London, who will enter his sixth season with the team this fall.

Just the ticket

This morning, student supporters of the men’s basketball team will either wake up to extreme delight or utter disappointment. Why? The lottery to select the students fortunate enough to receive one of the 2,654 tickets to the Duke and Louisville games took place at 3:01 a.m.

Two U.Va. fraternity chapters will not sign FOA addenda

Two University fraternity chapters — Alpha Tau Omega and Kappa Alpha — have announced that they will not be signing new Fraternal Organization Agreement addenda required of fraternities by the University. The addendum was drafted by a variety of stakeholders, including fraternity alumni, current members and the Inter-Fraternity Council, during Winter Break, and fraternities will be required to sign it by Jan.

Gov. McDonnell receives two-year prison sentence for corruption charges

Former Gov. Bob McDonnell was sentenced to 24 months in prison Tuesday by Federal Judge James Spencer. McDonnell, who was also sentenced to two years of supervision upon release from prison, was found guilty of several corruption charges in September stemming from an improper relationship with family friend Jonnie Williams, the CEO of nutrition supplement company Star Scientific.
