Odds and Ends

The show must go on

First Year Players hit a bump in the road this week when first-year College student Erin Addis-Liesler, who plays the lead character Sandy in FYP's version of "Grease," broke her foot. But the show will go on, broken foot or not.

Addis-Liesler will play Sandy anyway, though a number of scenes had to be readjusted.

"Characters will poke fun at Sandy's injury just to make the emphasis that the show must go on," said third-year College student Emily Newhouse, who is involved with the production. "Everyone really pitched in, keeping her from feeling bad about herself."

Three dance routines were altered dramatically to accommodate Addis-Liesler's injury.

Dancers will accompany Addis-Liesler in a number of the dance routines, intermeshing the injury into the plot.

    Roundtable ends Awareness Week

As tie-dyed Frisbees marked the beginning of this year's Honor Awareness Week, a University-wide event dedicated to educating students about the honor system, a roundtable discussion tonight at 6:30 in Pavillion VIII will mark the end of it.

"Do you think you live in a community of trust?" third-year College student Jodie Slater asked. "If not, come talk about it."

The roundtable is a chance for students not only to learn about the Honor System but also to discuss grievances they may have with it.

"There are a few guys who come sometimes just to tell us how much they don't like the system," Slater said.

Created in 1842, the University boasts the oldest student-run honor code in the country.

"That's why it's so important for students to come out to support these events," Slater said. "If you've ever waned to participate in something Jeffersonian, come to Pavillion VIII at night, eat pizza and talk about the Honor System. It's an unforgettable experience," Slater said.
